The question is whether it will be a good idea for the military to create a special promotions process where exceptionally gifted soldiers get to jump through the normal promotion process and get to lead divisions or get promoted as theater commanders, llke they do in the investment banking, or like what Morgan Stanley just did with Jannie Tsue who went straight from intern to COO in the SEA region before she turned 30, which in military terms will be like somebody getting promoted from private to head of CENTCOM in 8 years? Would the military benefit from a very talented 30 year old being promoted to head naval operations for the entire Western Pacific? I mean of you can get 30 year old VPs in the banking sector why cant you get 30 year old vice admirals in the navy?

In the old days leadership positions were inherited. Sons were groomed from birth for their eventual position in power. That doesn’t exist now. Military careers start in the 20s and require a lifetime of playing politics to get anywhere.
The age is drastically lowered by childbirth deaths and children dieing in general from diseases and malnutrition. If you made it to your 18th birthday it wasnt uncommon for people to live to their 60s and 70s.
The smartest man I've even known was a poor, mentally ill polymath that would but only could in any real capacity do math "backwards" (he'd with almost 100% accuracy approximate the number and work it back, but he couldn't for the life of him explain how he did it and that fucked him over greatly because he was put into 'special' classes for it), and would never forgot anything that interested him. He just stopped coming to school a few weeks before graduation.
In my opinion, the world lacks a lot of romance these days due to the constant bashing of Ego, and the people who would benefit from being a tad more eccentric but having no inherent or otherwise upward momentum probably struggle quite a lot because of it. It would be nice to have it so that these cases of people are analyzed more accurately rather than being so easily discarded. There is probably also some component of people just becoming less intelligent, for one reason or another. I'm sure how somethings are also taught is a problem due to some techniques just working better than others. There was also a lot less bullshit years ago.

Because the military doesn't like its conceptions broken, and most militaries try to fight the previous war. Maybe the best example was WW1, when it ended, a lot of advancements have been rolled back, like using camouflage or close air support, as it was seen as a "single occasion".

People who join the army nowadays are more doing for the financial benefits than the pride and reward of serving their country. This means the military is more filled with careerists rather than idealists.
Again, it is kind of the same with the church. People who join the church are weak men who fail at everything else and see the church as a cushy job that allows them to ignore reality.
Both of these factors are the result of a complete lack of values within western society with respect to these things, and if they are not viewed in a good light it means that the people who turn to these occupations are less and less people with vision and ideals.
