We knew this would happen.
You know, doctor who has one of the few storylines where a female version of the character could actually be good.
Unlike Bond, the doctor can regenerate into all kinds of forms (all human, but otherwise very different).
It could fit into the story, it could have been quirky, fun, different, all of that. It could have silently let womens have their moment, while still remaining true to the spirit of the series and entertaining for all.
But we knew none of this would happen. We had great hope, but we knew deep down.
Once the BBC gets its corrupted jewish claws into an sychophantic ideology, it pushes it down everyones throats, and charged you for the privlidge (whether you want to pay or not!).

This is the true shame of it all. Not only did the BBC 'breathe new life' into the series by necroing it with all their mediocre special effects and poor acting. The storylines are good in the new series though regardless. They would make better books than TV if I am honest.

What spirit is that exactly? Because the spirit of the 12th Doctor's run is very different from that of the 9th, which in turn is very different from the 4th, which is very different from the 2nd, which is very different from the 1st, and so on. The only thing consistent about the 'spirit' of Doctor Who is that it changes with every Doctor.

I see what you mean, you raise a good point. I think the show has always had a slight political kick to it (as you say, changing from time to time) but never anything this agenda-conforming or overtly forced. The 'spirit' of doctor who that I think remains consistent is the mysteries. The figure-it-out lore, where all the clues are there, and people piece it together without it being overtly obvious, then a twist makes you consider it all. This is the framework for the best episodes imo, but variation was certainly its strong suit.
I'll be honest I didn't expect to be put on the spot for that comment, but that's my take on it.
