Politicians don’t want to deal with the regulatory headaches of modern plants. Statesmen don’t want to deal with the headache of having plants built in their states and waste stored either (though nuke waste is a meme anyway). And then regular people don’t want plants because they’re too stupid to understand anything about the field and the media tells them nuke plants are spooky and dangerous.
