you are a fucking autist. Math is just that part of physics where experiments are cheap. Doesn't matter if the math structure is incomplete as physics is founded in empirical fact. Physics aren't math, they use math. You can't deduce Newton law, gravitation equation nor plenty of other equation. Also, fuck off to /sci.
Theoretical physicists are simply mathematicians who found out people don't invite mathematicians to parties so they started calling themselves theoretical phycists. They make up bullshit and reverse engineer equations to make their bullshit look correct. When scientific observation eventually debunks their BS they just invent excuses: my equation isnt wrong....it only looks wrong because......90% of the mass in the universe is invisible....ummm....dark matter...
what the fuck is this doing on pol ?
You've either already read mileswmathis dot com and think we are stupid or you need to go read it and leave us alone.
Much of it is bullshit. They spend all their time trying to rehabilitate the materialist/physicalist world view. For instance, the multiverse. They multiply entities beyond necessity by assigning physicality to the wave function. The reason they do this is because they refuse to acknowledge that everything is not physical because that opens the door to a meta-physical, or 'beyond physical' or 'other than physical' basis of reality.
>They make up bullshit and reverse engineer equations to make their bullshit look correct
Yes. That's exactly what they do.
It feels to me like a fishing expedition...
We know the standard model is wrong, we thought SUSY was the natural extension to it
many years later... and we haven't found SUSY... making it far less useful
We've found the Higgs, but it's mass value raises more questions than it answers
The position of a theoretical physicist is quite difficult at the moment atleast in particle physics. All of the extensions to our model feel un-natural. We have no idea which direction to go towards.. Verifying models in the collider sector is becoming increasingly unlikely since:
The upgraded LHC will only go up to 14 TeV
All future colliders beyond(14+ TeV) will be cancelled since the EU will be broke due to all the niggers and mussies from africa they are giving welfare to.
This is the sort of thing I'm talking about. Suddenly modern theoretical physics is on the empirical order of Netwon's laws. (which aren't even complete)
What motive do you attribute to this? I don't like assuming greed, especially when it comes to people giving their life to finding knowledge
Whats really gonna bake your noodle later on is, if you didn't have to Null Hypothesize every thing, how would you have known any different.

I think it's because they think that it cedes ground to religion or a non-atheistic world view. A non physical and probabilistic aspect to reality is not quite as neat and tidy as a physical/materialistic universe which is completely deterministic. They thought they had it all sorted out. That is what the einstein podolsky rosen v copenhagen interpretation debate was about. Einstein didn't like uncertainty. And then john stewart bell came along.
Hardly any new discoveries in physics have been made since 1960's. Modern physics is just circle jerking over impossible theories such as string theory. Our forefathers that pioneered classical physics deserve all the credit because they did the real work.
On another posting group on the net, years ago, there was a theoretical physicist whose defense mechanism when losing any debate was to post ridiculously obtuse math problems that nobody could ever even understand as the final defense for his arguments.
It was like watching Alan Greenspan with his wacko economic bullshit defenses
>Hardly any new discoveries in physics have been made since 1960's
lol
Their motivation is that they were taught that this is a valid pursuit and believe it. Everyone tells them they are smart and they believe it. They fall in love with their theories. When their math is debunked they think "but it can't be wrong I received an award for this."
Pretty much.
Theoretical physics is as of now un-falsifiable. But that doesnt mean the theories hold no value.
>this is what you think when all you have to go on is Vsauce videos and Michio Kaku interview clips on YouTube
Brainlets go
Yes, definitely. To be fair though, it certainly isn't the only field of research in academia that is.
math is no different, and will forever remain that way ever since godel put you in your place.
there has to be something outside of physics/math.
Tawdry claim. Nothing that is non falsifiable is touted as fact by any physicist theoretical or otherwise. We all have pet theories, and spend our careers interacting with them. What's your point?
I just copped a book on Gödel's proof, haven't into it yet. Can you give me a quick rundown of what you mean here, frien?
