Many Ancient Macedonians participated in the Olympics. The reason they don't appear often in inscriptions is because of the distance separating them and Ancient Olympia. Even before, but especially after the split, senior positions of power were in the hands of Greeks. The emperors alone were a mix of various ethnicities (again, before and after the split).
