How hard would it be to raise a private army to keep the powers that be in check? Drill, train, march etc. Basically a show of force for the will of the people. Moreover is it legal I suppose is the first question, perhaps just call it a militia. Thoughts, opinions, ideas?
Private army
It is obviously legal. Join your local militia. Just google the closest one, or start your own with a buddy. If you don't have a buddy, army of one!

buy them from india and pay them in cup of curry at the end of the day
Para-military training is illegal in several States when guerrilla tactics are taught. Any militia capable of fighting the U.S. Government would assuredly rely on guerrilla methods. So your idea would be illegal from the start and FEDs would likely come down on you. Plus it would take lots of money to feed, clothe, train, and supply our men. And you'd need a place to train them...which is more money.
I mean an actual army though. A standing army, not just larping in the woods on the weekends. Showing up enforce and descending on Washington essentially enacting our will sans lobbying unless we gain influential backing
this is simply not even true
plus if people got more into the idea of sidestepping the idea of money in exchange for bartering favors/knowledge to motivate people for their training, eventually towards raising social infrastructure for an employee-owned company, than I would say it is only a matter of time before private armies of Constitutionalists swell all throughout the republic
It's 100% true. Militias which train in Guerrilla Warfare are illegal in most States. An army requires trained men, lots of them, and lots of money for gear, food, clothing, medicine, and etc. Not to mention such an Army needs to be led by someone with experience in warfare, which I doubt the OP has.
To have an actual army would require funding to allow members to treat it as a full time job which we can't do right now. Are current best bet is to "larp in the woods," attract ex-military to run drills, and hopefully secure enough funding to get the instructors on a payroll then from there the soldiers themselves and continue growth. Doesn't sound like the worst thing to do, might start one in my area.
That's not a bad idea. Would it be possible to incorporate a militia per se? I guess it's nothing more than private military contractor at that point but instead of being beholden to anyone it'd have the people's/national interests in mind
