They don't have a history of critical thought, only application of critical thought.
It's not that they can't do it, it's just they've never really tried because it requires vast amounts of personal and societal sacrifice. No unified belief system, no codes of laws beyond regional applications, no class structure that promotes merit-based elevation, sudden knowledge bomb from the west, etc.
Humans innovate technologically and morally. Africans only focused on the former, and not very enthusiastically.
