I’ve been to China a few times in business. My father ran a huge education scam with some rich fucks in Guangzhou, and they do tend to respect strong American politicians.
One who comes up a lot is Nixon, who they all thought was a huge badass because he looked mean and rode a bicycle around Beijing alone at night. Back then this was the sort of thing that got you fucking killed.
They do like Trump, because he acts like a Chinese politician in a lot of ways. His bluster, his “fuck you” nationalistic attitude, and the fact that he threatens violence casually are all positives in Chinese politics, they associate him with the northern provinces’ “barbarian” culture, which is in vogue after the toad.
