Voting shall start at 12:30 Brussels time today and take about 2hrs to vote through all 250 proposed amendments - overview here juliareda.eu/2018/09/copyright-showdown/
What the heck is this all about? A. The EU wants to make all internet platforms directlt liable for copyright violations (and later “illegal opinion” violations) of users B. In order to avoid liability, the only way forward for platforms is either some broad licensing with every rightholder globally (impossible) or implementing an algorithm to check user uploads against a copyrights holder (and “illegal opinions”) database before making it public
C. algorithms cannot distinguish between fair use criticism, quotes etc. using copyrighted works and copyright infringements. Also, filters and huge databases are complicated and costly and would force small plattforms to block EU states.
Stay tuned for this shit to pan out today. Probably the single biggest happening for the internet since 1993.
does this mean European addresses might be blocked from the internet in the future?
Kevin Hughes
if ti passes, you think gookmoot will just ban europoors so he won't have to deal with it or will he actually go for the filter?
Juan Turner
it only applies to the EU. most large websites with lots of foot traffic are region locked. you dont all actually share space on most of them. what happens in content is mirrored and sent to other servers with their version of the website and its copied. sounds stupid but its the only way to keep the inetrenet from being clogged because of finite bandwidth
been in effect since hd images got put on websites. fiberoptic means jack shit when people try to cover a website with hd images or stream hd vids. so youtube, facebook and even twitter and many smaller websites like ign all do it. if you use a proxy you will see it happen and see different shit on the front page and what not
the EUs laws dont affect the rest of the world. sorry faggots thems the breaks
Evan Nelson
The EU is in a position where there are element within the EU who are against the many things the EU are involved with but rather than not be total AIDS infected cancer they do everything in their power to be AIDS infected cancer. The EU just feels like they can cuck their members and there can never be resistance to their bullshit. The EU seems to believe its members are too cucked to ever push back.
Both in the EU and the US and globally everywhere the user is responsible for their content and not the platform. But the EU wants to change this because it forces platforms to censor content... and these filters can later be used to filter all kinds of content, porn, illegal opinions etc.
Kayden Mitchell
Well this will be fun.
Angel Hill
It does not only apply to the EU, it applies globally if content can be seen from the EU...
Aiden Powell
The Jews used the E.U. to shut it down? Say it ain't so!
Adrian Jones
Fuck net neutrality
If you can’t pay for the internet you shouldn’t be on it to begin with
Carson Wilson
Why are you posting pics of old gay dudes kissing? Fuckin faggot!
Elijah Powell
MOTHER FUCKER, IF YOU SAY "illegal opinion" AGAIN! I FUCKIN DARE YA, JACK!
Kayden Jenkins
this makes nn look like a fucking joke. and there is nothing you can do about it yuropoors. enjoy getting ARABED and not even being able to post about it.
Josiah Foster
Jow Forums is to ban all Europoors
Colton Cooper
We just make a retard play pen exclusion zone for the EU. The rest of the internet carries on as normal besides taking a moment to point and laugh at the dystopian nightmare that is the EU.
Brandon Johnson
>Make an encrypted 4chinz? >Make an internationally recognized (for anons) encyclopedia with pseudonyms, abbreviations, codewords? How will we know of the atrocities happening in the E.U. with filters in place (you know what they mean)?
Thomas Walker
Well, small platforms may just geoblock the EU. Larger platforms cannot as the EU is still a quarter of their revenues or more plus they need the content. So they comply with censorship... on a global level. 95 percent of user interactions happen on those large platforms so this dystopian nightmare affects the US too... Fakebook cannot censor an upload just for EU users and allow it to see in theUS... same for Youtube or Twitter etc. This is technically and from an UX persoective too hard to implement.
Aaron Powell
How much gets posted about the daily lives of North Koreans? Well, you got your answer there, buddy.
Henry Hughes
What actually happens is the rest of the users flee the compliant platforms for those who are unfiltered.
John Cruz
I doubt it, Youtube has 85 percent market share and uses filters. The EU wants Youtube’s filters to be broadened and made mandatory everywhere. If anything, Youtube will get to 95 percent market share, and so will Insta, Twitter etc.
Ayden Parker
Nah, younger generations will flee because they will be lame and for your parents.
Logan Gonzalez
Brainlet here, weren't these articles voted on and defeated months back? I can't tell what's going on in the stream, link tax and isp-wide upload filters are back on the menu?
Joshua Fisher
This desu, all the younger kids I know fucking hate this shit and go out of their way to find censored content because it's edgy and cool.
Evan Myers
bump
Aiden Williams
>weren't these articles voted on and defeated months back? This is the EU. They're going to keep voting on something they want passed until it finally passes
Xavier Morris
I understand... Like when the Chewies used horns instead of their computers to communicate.
Leo Phillips
Haha, what a bunch of cucks you europoors are.
Austin Roberts
Fucking Hiro is rubbing his hands right npw thinking about all the Jow Forums passes he will sell just so we can use this website with a VPN. Fuck, I'm already considering it.
>Send some Emails, that will surely brake this globohomo organization built to make your life as miserable as can be Hell, we had referendums against all of this and it didn't work, so why would some emails work?
Bentley Taylor
One more tick in their spamfilter? We halted it last time kinda. All one can hope for is they vote for one of the better versions I guess.
big fines for hosting copyrighted content even if users are the ones posting it. URL link tax, meaning sites have to pay daddy government for putting URLs to other websites on their page. Yes really.
Kevin Cooper
Time to cut the fiber.
Alexander Brooks
MEPs arent loyal to the EU, theyre loyal to their own interests. Backlash against this could mean they dont get elected. The e-mails helped last time, it seems.
Nolan Mitchell
>create link spam bot >let it spam the net >sue for millions in link fees
>Muh backlash Last time, about 40% of the people bothered to go vote on the European parliament. There is no backlash because people don't care about MEPs and whatever they do. I know 1 dutch MEP, sargentini, and only because she's a complete retard. I think most of the population has no clue who our MEPs are and most also have no clue what they actually do.
Dominic Russell
so what do you propose we do instead, then?
Jackson Taylor
>so what do you propose we do instead, then?
psssst
Gabriel Reed
So glad we will finally get rid of yuroshits. That's what you get for calling me a mutt, fuck you
Carson Mitchell
>"you will be here for ever"
Ah! looks like eurofags will get a life now out of this fucking site. BTFO Jow Forums, I'm free now goodbye motherfuckers!
Well, i doubt this shit will go thru, but the pattern is very easy to see here. The cuckU tries to fuck over the inet for a longer time now.
But on the other side...when content creators will be afraid of copyright, maybe there will be less garbage ones. Or it will piss all of them off so much, that they start shilling hard against the EU and what it does now. Could be interesting.
>Well, i doubt this shit will go thru How possible it is actually for this to pass? I am not entirely familiar with the process. To some degree, but not even nearly as much obviously.
Juan Cruz
>mfw cunts were whining about muh net neutrality because trump was going to remove it, meanwhile the EU does this
Kevin Carter
Me neither, it's the first time i see a report about this. But i am not a bit suprised that the kike media is silent about it.
Benjamin Peterson
and (((they))) will label any right wing leaning content as terrorism. rip.
Nathan Bennett
I really hope all Euro's are range banned.
Leo Torres
>t.retard
Lucas Jones
Hell, i called them, and i said to people to call. But i think it won't solve shit. We are headed towards oligarchy in the EU, and we ll try to suck China's dick in the upcoming Cold War.
Unless we make it crash, and we return under the US leadership, for freedom.
Josiah Nguyen
It applies to you as well. Americans will be range banned and filtered out when posting political shit on EU sites. Includes Twitter and Facebook pages too if the owner is EU citizen or organization.
Grayson Ross
Mi dispiace. E finnito.
Henry Davis
It means Sargon and Dankula failed to save the West. Again. But they got to wear suits.
>sargons suit isn't tailored look at his cuffs my autism is flaring lads
Jason Brown
We have enough with the fucking cookie law. They don't care about copyright, only opinions and shekels. All those stupid laws are for the sake of copyright
Logan Richardson
Fucking hell Sargon, could you find a more ill-fitting suit? Bet he got that jacket from a charity shop.
Dylan Turner
They added the takedown amendment in the last minute so no one can comment it. That means they want it to pass to be able to censor viral campaigns online. Good job registering yourself as a concerned anti-establishment citizen too.
Alexander Brown
a e s t h e t i c
Christopher Carter
what makes you think this won't just fail like the last one did?
Blake Turner
Last time it didnt pass but the votes were relatively close. This time they """tweaked things""" while not really changing anything so this time the votes might get skewed in the favor of it passing. "Its not as bad as last time" or such.
Gavin Rodriguez
this anything not extreme left will be labeled terrorist content
Xavier Adams
>Twitter dont care >Facebook dont care
This will punish EUfags and normies, I couldn't give less of a fuck, instead I am actually rooting for it to go through.
Brody Cook
who cares
Austin Clark
>I am actually rooting for it to go through. I wrote some MEPs about this and some of them actually took some time to answer. The ones that were against it. Don't give a fuck if it passes, just want to have a list of people who are not welcome back when the EU folds.
Aiden Green
Let me guess, Jäätteenmäki didnt reply.
Joshua Williams
you'll still be here but it will take you 2 days to load a page from your US based VPN
Henry Morales
Time to go back to trading text-files across BBS and UseNet.
Joseph Foster
The weirdest shit about this law is that they talk about prescanning videos, audio, and text. So you can't quote texts anymore besides everything you type being analized, at least on major platforms? lol and those fags cried about net neutrality.
Angel Perez
I don't think she did. She's just there because her career here is ruined and she still needs a decent pension. She'll vote for anything that she gets paid for.
Hudson Turner
I'd say the Brits need to hurry the fuck up and Brexit out of that shit, but then I remember how much of a nannystate they already are so they'd probably just pass their own identical version.
Cameron Parker
I just remember her saying last time that she was going to vote for it, talking how "theres a lot of misconceptions" about it.
Hunter Nguyen
It's funny to me. The brits wanted to leave the EU because of freedom but now they are competing to become even more orwellian in a shorter time span.
Thomas Ortiz
we're way past oligarchy this shit will be stalinist-tier orwellian nightmare
Brandon Gomez
>eufags and normies >an algorythm enforced on all websites by the biggest economical and political power in the world will not spread beyond its borders Ikr senpai, exactly like the updated cookies policy didnt. Except it did
I don't get what is happening at all watching this but everything makes perfectly sense now. This is the most bereaucratic bullshit I have ever seen.
Zachary Adams
I hope I live to see the day that the EU is utterly destroyed, and all European nation states regain their sovereignty. What started as a trading bloc (which is a great idea) has become a fucking monster with stupid single currency, Schengen zone, open borders and mountains of freedom stifling bureaucracy.
Pretty sure "think of the children" will come up next.
Jackson Sullivan
It's passed
Michael Bennett
i think theyre scared at how memes alays fly in the face of EU Council objectives: >the EU is a ghost town where lobbying is al that matters. >we dislike migrants. >we pushed brexit and italexit memes >sweden memes
they want to just silence all that noise. also the MSM is making fuck-all money and going bankrupt by the minute. this is a clear last ditch effort to syphon money into media stations like """news""" outlets and tv stations.
