Labour is cheaper, end product is cheaper, as Canadian planes are cheaper, there are more of them bought internationally, resulting in more demand for Canadian planes.
You could say that there would be more demand for the product, but not more jobs, because the production would be automated, and with many industries you would be right. Plane production is not one of those areas.

Here's what I would argue, the nature of our economy has gone from being one that was based off of resources, to human capital. You would rather be Switzerland than some African country or Veneuzela, because one has a lot of human capital, and the other has natural resources.
If you look at the top 10 highest paying university degrees, they are almost all engineering. It's good to have more in the country, as they have a skill that is valuable in the international labour market, and even if they live in Canada, they can design oil platforms off the coast of Africa, or bridges in Brazil. Having more slightly less rich people is a good thing for a country. We're not talking lowskilled labour, this is high skilled labour
