5PM FORECAST DISCUSSION ========================== Florence is expected to only slowly weaken overnight due to its proximity to the warm Atlantic where convective bands are expected to continue to develop and propagate inland in the eastern and southern portion of the circulation, which will act to bring down some of the stronger winds aloft.
She no longer drives. She has to have help chopping food because she is afraid to be around knives. She doesn’t leave the kitchen when she’s cooking, either. She is fearful of forgetting to turn off the stove.
The injury has been debilitating. She walks with a slight limp. It has wreaked havoc on everything from her balance to her depth perception to her ability to sit down and read.

I want a REAL hurricane like the one that hit Galveston a hundred years ago that killed 12,000. If that happened I would be dancing. We might start getting higher numbers with Flo if the bays and rivers feeding the bays start to really flood, that might hit some towns and areas that haven't evacuated yet.

That's very true. Northerner's had a similar experience during the big 2002(?) power grid outage. People just kind of come together. Anyways I didn't really help out too many people in my neighborhood during Harvey because my own block was fine and it seemed more like leave the rescues to the experts elsewhere. But yeah, I did Western Union money to my friend in Orange and also organized some other donations for him. I was talking to him during the storm, they opened up the levees on the dam to the north of him and Orange just got flooded like crazy. At one point I talked to him and he said "the water is coming up to my home and there are fucking wild rabbits on my porch trying to get into the home". He was so scared. People died there, the national guard for awhile deputized the local fire and PD, and they were going around from home to home and cutting holes in the roofs and removing corpses from the attics and shit. He got lucky and ended up after his rescue in Lousiana where he said the locals were absolute cunts and were aggressive about "get the fuck back to TX we don't want you here".
