Recently, using eye motion technology, doctors were able to modify IQ tests that kids with Rett Syndrome could use. They found that kids with Rett Syndrome actually fell in the average range, indicating normal intelligence. They just can't communicate with anyone.
What's worse, you'd have no idea your kid had Rett Syndrome because it doesn't manifest at all until they're about 18 months old. Before that they're completely normal.

Maybe, but I think you're taking an overly pessimistic view. The main reason I like him is because of the quality of some of his interviews, like the first two I posted here: I mean, I can see where you're coming from, but his quality control is good enough that I can have respect for what he does, or at least be interested. She does have Rett Syndrome. The facial deformities I believe are a complication from the syndrome, though you're right that they don't appear to affect most cases.
