Sure, that may work in Germany, but it may never work in America. What America needs in actuality is a revision to the constitution. What we need is white-only voting for Federal elections, the only nonlocal elections that they should be allowed to vote in is a new house added to our now tricameral parliament (whites can vote for representatives in this now house too). It would be called the House of Deputies and it would be below the House of Representatives, the members would be decided through a national list vote, that house would have 1000 members. The House of Representatives would go from 435 seats to 500 and gerrymandering would be abolished and with white-only voting and single-member constituencies, and those constituencies would be drawn proportionally to the white population. The Senate would remain 100 seats, with nonwhites allowed to vote for one senator, and the other being elected through a white-only vote (one white-only senator and one normal senator per state). Nonwhites would be banned from serving in Congress. The electoral vote would be decided by the amount of representatives a state has in the House of Representatives and the Senate. Nonwhites cannot run for president, vice president, or serve in the cabinet, and they can vote for president, and they would be reserved 25 electoral votes out of 625, making a president need 313 votes to win the presidency. Cabinet members and the vice president would be directly elected by the same way the president was elected. Supreme court justices would be nominated, voted on by the committee, and then confirmed in the House of Representatives, Senate, and president. If the Senate rejects it, the House of Deputies would vote on whether to send the nominee to the president to be confirmed. The Chief Justice would be an elected position, with an already confirmed justice running for the office and the American people voting for the best one through the prior electoral college system.

Anyways, in order to amend the constitution one must get 51% of the House of Deputies, 85% of the House of Representatives, and 90% of the Senate to agree. The constitution would have all amendments after the 10th amendment removed, and have four more amendments added. The first establishing the rights of the new House of Deputies and amending the rights of the Senate and House. The second is establishing the before mentioned confirmation to the Supreme Court and how the supreme court would now function. The third being the changes made to cabinet, vice presidency, and presidency. And the last banning the establishment of military bases built on foreign soil during peacetime, or banning it when we are at war and the nation we built the bases on are currently neutral in the conflict.

I think these amendments and changes would be enough to save the Republic and bring in the glory days of years past.

The Articles of Confederation were too unstable and we would of fell apart and perhaps balkanized, never reaching the Pacific Ocean. We'd probably be some poor farmers east of the Mississippi, or even further back, or made a colony again, and perhaps a Canada of sorts. Or maybe Australia or somewhere in between. Still flooded unbelievably though by whatever emerged from those westward lands. The Constitution is perfect by no means, but something of the sorts is vital in preserving greater America.

Don't put words into my mouth. If the Articles of Confederation were kept one of two things would of happened.
1. They continued to keep them, but with the weak federal government states would either decide to colonize the west themselves or not do it at all. In the first scenario we would have Virginia sprawling across the country, from Richmond to perhaps somewhere in the Great Plains, and the same with N. Carolina, Georgia, and Pennsylvania. The other states would've gotten anxious and angry that they were landlocked and not allowed to colonize, causing a divide, and an eventual civil war with N. England, New York, New Jersey, S. Carolina, Delaware, and Maryland against some strengthened Pennsylvania, Virginia, Georgia, and N. Carolina. What would most likely happen is that due to their increased populations, Virginia and Pennsylvania would field a big enough army to fend them off for a while, but in the end they would win, as a different civil war. This would cause us to balkanize as states grab what they want and the Federal government would be considered weak and be overthrown in the fighting or become more and more ceremonial. The second example, let's say they do not try to colonize (unlikely), what would happen is that since the federal government is weakened, Congress and the Federal government would never raise enough funds to buy French Louisiana, and that colony would be lost to someone like Britain, who would then surround us and then conquer us seeing us as the last bastion of anti-monarchism left in the Christian world.
2. Down the road, at a later date something else would of been adopted, alas, this would of been a bad timing. If it were to occur it had to happen before 1806, otherwise those efforts would be fruitless.

General strikes are only second to guns. Loosing business and money is one thing, and all you need is some poorer people to replace the strikers and boom, strike is over. Florida would too be sold to the British by the Spanish, since they would be more of a regional power and would have the funds to do so, and we would never have our Adams-Onis treaty.
