Our further path of evolution is harder to predict as the societal environment we live in was designed with our current body in mind, so there is little need to adapt to the environment.
There is also the coming age of genetic modification, which could go a numerous ways.
And finally we don't really know if we have to rely solely on mutations and genetic quirks, diets of parents to influence the next generation or are there other factors at play.
This is pseudo science territory, but for example, if the parents both spend a long time focusing on the thought of having a "tall kid", would the body be able to pick up on that

We can't really say if Giraffes 300k years ago look completely the same as Giraffes now.
While it may be true that "Primitive Man" was doing well in the environment, certain features, like say, a thicker hair coat, requires energy to be sustainable, so someone who had a fever hair meant that their body is spending that energy doing something else rather than growing a hair that is really not needed. Over thousands of years, it adds up.

i remember the live stream of the project presentation, it seemed huge, top officials there, then months ahead they are only selling shirts and things like that.. there where even few people watching the stream so maybe they didn't see enough interest and slowed down everything
