That's a statistic that really only applies to those who began their transition long after puberty ended. If the transition begins early enough then there's no reason they can't look good well into their 30s. That being said, some people just aren't feminine enough to begin with, so no amount of transitioning is going to change what they want, and those are the ones who commit suicide. They are often around 6' or taller, have a jaw like an anvil, or other features that can't be fixed without surgery. Then you have people who are near 5'5", have a thin facial structure, and other feminine features, and they really don't have to do much other then take the hormones. If someone has feminine enough genes I wouldn't doubt that they could transition after they turn 30 and still look fine.
