You take a successful nation add socialism, and given enough time, it weakens, to the point that communism starts sounding good to the masses. Even though the US might be shitty in a lot of ways, it's clearly a much higher standard of living. I'm talking about the level of the average person.

You notice the same thing in certain small backwards towns in America that haven't recieved investment for 50 years or so. Everything is very small-scale, run down. Houses are very trashy and poorly maintained
