Jow Forums is a shit show right now. For those of you who are unaware, the Linux Kernal development project is about to accept a new "code of conduct" written by pic related.
Some are suggesting this might be an attempt at corporate take over by Microsoft or something, as Linux is the only real alternative to Windows and cuts a huge swath out of MS's enterprise market share.
Even if you don't use Linux, understand this will affect you. Most of the internet runs on this shit, and now they're going to try and get a "diverse group of developers" working on the kernal, in other words, it's going to go to shit.
What the fuck is Linux though. The only person I ever knew who used it was a hyper-autist who dropped off the face of the Earth before highschool.

Linux (and by extension, open-source software) drives pretty much every device that isn't from Microsoft or Apple. Yes there are others but this is a high-level explanation.
For instance, Android phones - one of the most numerous devices on the planet - run a customized version of Linux. Many Internet services that non-techies take for granted on the Internet (such as web servers, database servers, DNS servers, and so on) run Linux because it's not only more secure than Windows but cheaper too.
The only OS anyone on Jow Forums should actually be using. Or, at least it was...

if anyone wants in to these backchannels, sniff them out thoroughly for shitty totalitarian tendencies, if they dont pass, pretend the backchannel doesnt exist, or shadow-ban them (work with them superficially but maintain the backchannel privately)

As a Linux contributor with 100+ commits I always knew this day would come. The left always waits for something to hit mainstream before coopting it and turning it into pure shit.
Good thing is that the kernel is still very highly optimized, performance driven code without a lot of room for SJW narrative bullshit. It's all the userspace that is going to suffer as a consequence of the underlying support for CoC.

I'll be honest here, I've been running Linux Mint for a while and after some of my brief interactions with the community, this comes as no surprise to me. I love Linux. I wish I had made the switch sooner but I love my games and all. But when it comes to the community, I get kind of a socialist, hippie vibe from them A lot of the distro sites have statements similar to "We here at x believe all software should be free and open, etc.." and at the same time they can't seem to understand why Linux isn't more wide spread. It seems only natural they would go down this path with the whole socialist approach to software. Let me repeat, I love linux, I feel it can do everything windows can do (except gaming for the most part) but it's future will be more of the same
