Literally any time any of the Asians get in a position of power they show a lack of humanity. As an American working with these Chicoms on a daily basis, I can't wait until the Trump trade corrections fix the current world order. Only Anglos can be trusted with world governance.

Germany was involved in Geneva convention partly to avoid fucking horrible, crippling non-deaths (and partly also to try banning trenchguns out of butthurt).
Japan saw this as a tactic: if all these people want to ban chemical warfare, let's use it as much as possible and even infect our own troops.

Every culture have atleast one or more incidents of unmoralness in their history. Nanking is very well documented. There was some Europeans who stayed behind in Nanking to help the civilians. They set up the international safety zone, chiefly led by none other than John Rabe, a German man and member of the Nazi party. Him and others witnessed first hand the indiscriminate rape and slaughter of just about anyone outside of the safety zone. In journal entries, which are archived, he described the Japanese brutality as "bestial" and when he went back to Germany he appealed to Adolf Hitler about what had happened.

Even the Japanese media at the time ran stories about killing contests between two Japanese soldiers, as seen in OP's picture. I recommend you read The Rape of Nanking by Iris Chang.
