OpenBSD was started as a fork of NetBSD by one of the NetBSD guys, Theo DeRaadt. He's a canadian. He wanted a free OS focused completely on security via proper design, maximum code correctness, and frequent code audits. The core team gives no shits about features unless they can be made secure.
And they have no time at all for people who aren't technical contributors. Feelings, idiots, and dumb people are regularly told to gtfo.
In addition to the OS itself, they take entire giant peices of important infrastructure, fork it, and re-write it so its not shit, and then their new versions become the standard. They did this with ssh; now everyone uses OpenSSH. They are in process on doing this with SSL (LibreSSL), openNTPD, openBGP, pf packet filtering system, etc, etc.
Their security record is absolutely, completely unmatched.
Debian already does its own thing. My kernel is 4.9.110-3+deb9u4 (2018-08-21) while the latest vanilla is 4.18.8 (2018-09-15)
FreeBSD and OpenBSD is not exactly laptop friendly.

These cunts want to make kernel development more inclusive which means accepting shitty patchsets from wamen, niggers, etc. But now that they have told us this is happening, people are going to be even more vigilant of shit code so when a wamen uploads a patch to remove use of master/slave terms and it breaks existing code (this is almost certainly going to happen as a result), this whole thing will come crashing down hard and will result in an actual fork.
