I recently watched a vintage anime called Angel's Egg that appears to have regained popularity for whatever reason. It's absolutely beautifully drawn, surrealist, kinda artsy and the symbolism in it has heavy Christian overtones. Japan has a homogeneous population. Despite its known problems of suicide rates and birth rates, it has low crime rates, which makes it great to live in, if you’re actually Japanese of course.
