apart from the reasons you mentioned, some semitic people just look like that, even from archaic times. Jews for instance were always stereotyped as gingers or light skinned/freckly. For example jesus was a ginger with rosy cheeks in islamic traditions, and early muslims classed north-west semites like syrians, phonecians and jews together with persians and europeans as white people.
