Quick rundown: German chief of natinal security Maaßen (Verfassungsschutz, sort of like NSA) contradicted Merkels interpretations of the happenings in Chemnitz. Interior minister Seehofer (german "conservative" branch of Merkels party) said he stands with Maaßen and sees no need to replace him. SPD started screeching and wants to fire Maaßen, begs to Merkel. Merkel is supposed to decide tomorrow what happens. As it seems from insider circles she will fire him. Maaßen said that if he will go, Seehofer told him he will go as well.
This would mean the coalition will break highy likely and thus new elections will come.

german media and politics is extremely one sided, its the first time a real right wing party got elected in parliament since WW2 so its already a big accomplishment. Also AfD is now biggest party in east germany
