What? The only presidents to gain seats in the mid-term of their first term in the past 100 years are George W. Bush and F.D.R. The only other time a president won the mid-terms was Bill Clinton, but that was in his 2nd term. He actually lost horrendously in his first mid-term, the republican revolution. Obama also lost bigly. I think republicans naturally do better in any mid-term, because of boomer chads who vote in every election. That makes it unlikely for the democrats to pull off those giant upsets like 2010 and 1994; although, they did do it in 2006.
