Docfag here. I encounter tranny’s a couple times per month in the hospital/ER. We generally call them by their preferred pronouns (although it gets a little confusing calling an individual “they” during rounds). Everyone knows they’re a tranny, it’s usually in the notes such as “27 yo transgender female”. The other health stuff is surprisingly straightforward as there are fewer biological differences than you’d think. Yes the prostate and breast thing is real but In practice it only rarely comes up and hasn’t been awkward yet. And as far as I know there is no surgery to remove the prostate as part of a sex change, that thing is pretty far in your pelvis.
