Content creators have become too reliant on major platforms. They have no direct following. Their subscribers are not really their subscribers, they’re YouTubes. If YouTube decides to close their account, their entire following is gone. The same is true with followers on Twitter or FaceBook. While setting up their own websites and hosting their own content is the safest option, it’s difficult to maintain viewers. The reason being people are lazy. They don’t want to track dozens of websites. They want their content in as few places as possible.
It’d be great if we had a user owned and user funded central platform where users can follow individuals. If a content creator posts a new video, the follower is notified whether that video is on YouTube, Bitchute or the content creators’ website and it’ll be embedded on the platform. If they post a tweet or a gab message, it’s brought to the same location. If a person’s YouTube account goes down, no problem, the users are served a backup from say Bitchute instead. Content creators lose nothing if these platforms give them the axe and users aren’t cut off.
