When did you swallow the climate change black pill and realize that not only is the climate change being caused by human activity -- which is also destroying the environment in many other ways -- but that you allowed yourself to lie to yourself about it in order to make some more shekels for oil companies that had already accepted the science decades ago?
Even worse, when did you realize that there was bipartisan recognition of the need to act 30 years ago, but the U.S. government ultimately bowed to special interests?
>On March 25, 1982 during a hearing on climate change, Republican congressman Robert Walker said, “Today I have a sense of déjà vu." In each of the last five years, he said, “we have been told and told and told that there is a problem with the increasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. We all accept that fact, and we realize that the potential consequences are certainly major in their impact on mankind.” Yet they had failed to propose a single law. “Now is the time,” he said. “The research is clear. It is up to us now to summon the political will.”
The redpill is to realize that the CO2 effect is proportional to LOGARITHM of CO2 concentration. The linear increase in temperature is due to EXPONENTIAL rise in CO2, which is dictated by EXPONENTIAL growth of energy energy, which is dictated by EXPONENTIAL growth of GDP, which is forced by EXPONENTIAL nature of debt. So, as always, it always comes back to the financial system and (((them))).
Jonathan Wood
If (((Globalists))) were actually interested in fixing climate change, they would put more pressure on Africa to have less children, tell Africa and Asia to stop polluting the ocean so badly, and stop all immigration to high carbon expending countries. But in reality, they don’t give a shit. It’s just about control.
Look everyone wants their current standard of living. Climate change policies mirror failed socialist policies. Socialism for thee not for me. We do not have the technology to power this society without carbon energy unless someone gives up their standard of living. Will it be you OP? Of course not. Just like this past weeks climate change conference where faggots like algore flew in via private jet. Stop with this fucking special interest oil conspiracy bullshit.
Owen Miller
There are many red pills to be swallowed here. Yes, our constant growth economy paradigm is the core issue.
In a paper released earlier this summer the scientists basically said as much:
>The present dominant socioeconomic system, however, is based on high-carbon economic growth and exploitative resource use (9). Attempts to modify this system have met with some success locally but little success globally in reducing greenhouse gas emissions or building more effective stewardship of the biosphere. Incremental linear changes to the present socioeconomic system are not enough to stabilize the Earth System.
Your argument begs the question as well as ignores your own responsibilities. The right chose to deny the science instead of offering a different narrative on solutions.
more strawmen. There's been tremendous support amongst environmental groups for a fee and dividend program, which puts a price on carbon without giving that money to government. People are trying to find a way to solve the problem.... except the U.S. right which is having their ass gaped by the koch brothers and the rest of big oil
Not denying anything. Just acknowledging that the plan Globalists have to “combat” climate change is a farce. It’s gibs and a power grab in the guise of “saving the environment.”
Humans do have an impact on climate, without doubt. But understand that the world goes through climate change itself. The world's oceans constantly absorb and release CO2 on a very large scale on very slow cycles, have forever. Natural extinction events have been happening forever, not just the meteor kind.
Also tell me what the average Joe who lives cheque to cheque is supposed to do? get active? it would literally take billions of people to change their habits and the system of society itself, tomorrow to make any kind of difference. How?
Owen Parker
Climate change is real but it isnt as bad as people say it is Eventually technology will fix it.
John Kelly
You're either a shill with the same old talking points, or someone who is entirely ignorant on the subject. Who do you think denies that the climate changes?
How do you know the climate changes? Could it be because of the research done by paleoclimatologists? The same scientists telling you that the current change is being almost entirely driven by anthropogenic factors?
How can the average Joe make a difference on anything political? Then why are you on a politics board?
>an anonymous source told me Wow, powerful argument Beppino
Samuel Diaz
Will we suffocate? When will the Co2 levels affect human behavior? Will there be diminishing returns, or can the concentration just keep on rising in similar fashion?
>"If you take all these feedbacks into account, the estimates are that by 2100, instead of two to six degrees Celsius rise (in average global temperature), it looks like a possibility of six to 12 degrees...
>These temperature changes would change the ocean circulation patterns and end up with much of the oceans going anoxic — very low oxygen content — which would then promote bacteria which produce hydrogen sulphates. These would rise and take out the ozone layer, and also make it somewhat difficult to breathe. This is by 2100." Dr Dennis Bushnell, chief scientist at NASA's Langley Research Centre
I didn't deny humanity has an impact on climate, we do. But humanity does drive 100% of climate change. Have there ever been drastic warming and cooling events that predate humanity that we know about?
And this isn't simply "get active" solution. I'm on board for burning less fuel but how do we change the entire fabric of modern society, globally across many different culture in a short period of time? How are we going to convince China to stop burning coal? How are you going to convince every inhabitant of Africa to not burn crude fuels?
Ryan Murphy
>But humanity does *not* drive 100% of climate change
damn it
Kayden Clark
Not what I asked though. I was purely interested in Co2 concentration in the atmosphere and it's effects on human cognition & behavior.
Julian Taylor
What's the discussion? You want to talk paleoclimate? I can guess which graphs you'll post... same tired old shill tactics. The most relevant time period for us is the last 450,000 years. A quick look at that data will show you how co2 has spiked... that scale cannot yet show you how temperature is responding. the 2000 year scale shows how it is.
Climate change is very real but it’s not man made faggot, Antarctica was once an island filled with mountains and grassland. Now it’s going back to that
Logan Smith
Nobody wants to fix climate change. Anyone claiming otherwise just wants your money, or they've been brainwashed by someone who wants your money.
Blake Watson
>leaf doesn't know how to vet graph data no real system will ever display a complete virticle slope. see that's the issue with all of your AGW bullshit: it's all based on cooked data.
truly the academic scam of the century, carbon tax and all.
James Taylor
First take the red pill, then you can take the black pill if need be.
Your questions are legitimate, but they're beginner tier. You need to go read about the subject. Of course there have been warming and cooling events... the previous glacial and interglacial warmings and coolings give us a tremendous clue about how the feedbacks work to lead to significant changes. They also tell us that we're now heading against the grain (we should not be warming now)
>scam of the century >fat fuck burger doesn't realize the first prediction about warming from co2 emissions date to 1896 >fat fuck burger moron doesn't realize the basic physics involved goes back even farther to the 1850s >fat fuck burger moron doesn't realize that we're in the 21st century >fat fuck burger idiot doesn't realize the science spans across three centuries.
Climate change white pill is to realize that climate change is caused by God because everything is the will of God.
Global warming is literally one of the Bowl judgments of Revelation
And know what else?
Flying saucers aren't all demons (as some controlled op evangelicals will tell you) but some are the literal bowls by which God's angels are pouring out wrath
Joshua Hernandez
so why don't you non-globalists start concocting your own plan? do you realize how paranoid you sound?
Dylan Powell
>Everything is the will of god >including the behaviour that invokes his wrath and your logic is fucked
Aiden Cook
Get China and India to stop polluting.
Jordan Price
lol that's obviously part of any plan to get to zero emissions globally... you've read too much fake news bra
Christopher Kelly
Bullshit, China and India were exempted form the Paris Accords.
Ethan Evans
climate change is real and you need to stop breathing in order to help the planet
Josiah Fisher
1) the paris agreement was highly criticized by lead climate scientists. 2) that's fake news... exempt from what?
>lol that's obviously part of any plan >the paris agreement was highly criticized by lead climate scientists. Done.
Owen Brooks
point 2 you fucking idiot
John Clark
" A study of humans exposed in 2.5 hour sessions demonstrated significant effects on cognitive abilities at concentrations as low as 0.1% (1000ppm) CO2 likely due to CO2 induced increases in cerebral blood flow.[120] Another study observed a decline in basic activity level and information usage at 1000 ppm, when compared to 500 ppm."
-From the CO2 article on Wikipedia
We have no idea what the effects of lifelong exposure (especially during childhood) are going to be even of a moderate increase.
Start by reading the wikipedia page on CO2 if you're really interested. There's a section toxicity studies.
Matthew Young
Lol, your devilish Calvin and his devilish God who obviously therefore enjoys punishing is not worth worshipping. Never worship the devil, even if he's God.
Charles Rodriguez
Any more sources that give a good overview of the major problems? Are there any good sources that give regional predictions for the medium term?
