So how was society different in the 2000's than the 2010's?

So how was society different in the 2000's than the 2010's?

I was born in 2000 so I was really too young to remember it. I can't imagine life without a smartphone though. That must have sucked.

Attached: windowsxp.jpg (1280x720, 79K)

Pre 2001 there was less doom and gloom
No boner for social media till later in the decade
Presmartphone era meant people spoke to each other instead of staring at crap on it all the time (unless they were texting someone)
Niggers/spics hadnt expanded outward from urban areas as much and damaged my town
9/11 caused everyone to freak out and be ok with what the government was doing (until they failed to find WMDS in iraq)

Are you talking about the 90's or 2000's? Also, checked.

back in the 2000s sprite remix and big league chew was the shit. i listened to a7x , played runescape, and read eragon.

windows xp and vista was trash in hindsight though.

also the iphone was a lot more impressive in those days, now the $1500 new iphone is scamming yourself.

everyone wanted to be an mma fighter in the 00's also, these days everyone wants a manbun beard and free college

Sizably different,I don't remember anything from the 90s but I remember the 2000s well( also place I lived was even more backwards)

>People were less PC and there was way less taboos about race(also whites did have a sense of sticking by each other slightly)
>Internet wasn't has "essential" to us(but still pretty big regardless already, but people did spend a lot less time in it)
>No smartphones, plasma TVs were expensive has fuck and people spent more time outside
>Tons of comfy Early 2000s shows(malcom in the middle for example, sopranos e.t.c) and cool more underground cultures
>People were less stressed and depressed

also to add to it, 2008 was the peak of the 00's btw. 2009 was also good

im much older than most here,
in the summer, from ages 6 and on
my friends and i were allowed to go outside all day and come home by dinner, completely unsupervised, blocks and miles away from home with no way to contact our parents.
video games and tv were something you did alone after homework and right before bed
it was bliss.
your generation and every generation from now on will never know how perfect life was then.

This. Less immigrants and feral shitskins roaming around. That's about it

Don't trust anyone born after 2000.

Also no social media bullshit

Dint breed internet back then had guns instead

no, 2006 was

Smartphones are a disease and we did fine with land lines. Literally switch to a razor phone and your quality of life will improve immensely, young zoomer. Use a big manly desktop tower for important shit

I was in high school in 2004, and I remember a really cute girl I had a crush on was getting blacked. I found out and remember the utter disgust I had in her. I looked her up years later and she is single and fat as shit. Just a shadow of her former self. Really sad.

2000-2001 max comfy
2002-2004 sad/edgy comfy
2005-2007 everything dies
2008-2009 the cancerous rebirth

The 2000's sucked and everything sucks. The 80's/90's kicked ass.

80s, 90s and early 00s were very similar. The world only started to change around the GFC 2007ish. Going to Uni stopped guaranteeing a high paying job.

You never knew what you were missing as you didn't know what a smart phone is. You would just arrange a time to meet someone at a specific point. Human interaction mattered much more.

The main thing to remember is that the chads still got all the girls and the incels didn't have anywhere to vent. THAT is not something new.
Taking an incel in a time machine back to the 70s would just create a guy who would eventually get away with murdering women. (Much less chance of being caught)

In the late 80's I was rubbing this girls tits and ass in wood shop and she loved it She would walk behind the cabinets and just wait for somebody to come and rid her gash.

MI6 age gather thread. data data data

This.
Every now and then you would find a smelly old porno mag you and your friends could look at too. You knew it was time to come in for dinner when your mum would shout, or pass a message on that you had to go home. literally everyone in my town was white too so naturally there was less crime and more trust.

Kids in poor neighborhoods get the same lack of supervision. Lots of reviews for ghetto apartments where kids run wild and unsupervised.

>The world only started to change around the GFC 2007ish.

Holy fuck, underage kiddie identified

The 90s were unbelievably fucking awesome. USSR collapsed, Cold War over, peace and prosperity everywhere, new tech was hitting the consumer market like every year, PC culture was a punchline, video games went from 8 bit to 16 and then 3D, the Internet was just getting started, crime was plummeting, grunge and G-Funk made rock and rap great (until around 1997 when it started to suck again), we had a massive economic boom and the big foreign policy anxiety was which shitty little dictator we were going to slap around in the name of human rights. There was just this unending optimism about the future and it all came to a horrifying end when some faggots crashed some planes into some office towers in NY.

Everything got worse in that moment, and with some shining exceptions has continued to. 2007-on has just been an accelerating slide.

Attached: 1530281729655.jpg (250x229, 8K)

2008 was the year of the foreclosure crisis and a brutal recession. Wtf are you talking about?

>Obama
>2008 was the peak
Clearly a Zoomer.

Lots of kids in ghetto apartments and trailer parks run wild and unsupervised and people complain about it in reviews. How is this different from what older people had?

Razer or Razr?

Born in 1981...

> The 1980's : Everyone was on heroine and cocaine and nobody gave two fucks about anything. The world was awesome. What a great time to be alive.

> 90's: Comfy first half, less comfy second half. late '90's edgelord mentality was a stain on a solid decade.

> 2000's: Kinda shitty.

> 2010's: SHIT.

Some (((faggots)))

This. Early and mid 90's were as close to a Golden Age that we will ever see. Gas was dirt cheap, health insurance was dirt cheap, wages were good, economy was booming, the American Dream was still attainable, things still made sense. We ran around, drank innawoods and chased girls. 9/11 was quite literally the beginning of the end of life as we knew it. The opioid crisis also killed off our generation. Literally half of my graduating class is dead from OD's. Pretty sad to think about.

Since you're older what's the difference between kids running around unsupervised when you were growing up and kids running around unsupervised in low income apartment complexes or trailer parks? I see a lot of reviews complaining about unsupervised kids.

Born in XXXX..

XP was the last useable version of Windows.

The 90s, unfortunately, were the last good decade

Life was better before cell phones. You don't even fucking know what you're missing. Freedom.

Parents complained and called the cops on us all the time. We didn't give a shit though and it was part of life. As far as kids unsupervised these days, things are very different now. I would never let my kid do half the shit I did. World is fucked man. Really it is.

Less fag shit. Trannies were in the dark corners of society and everyone was happier for it. Some people virtue signalled about fags but it was common and OK to express disgust.

2000s still fucking blew because of everything that came after 9/11.

It was a different time...

Attached: 1532020774399.jpg (1280x720, 148K)

There was only two genders in the early 2000's.Transgender people were seen as freaks to be laughed at.You would spend hours adjusting the HTML script to make your myspace profile look good.

Peace? Gulf war, Oklahoma bombings, War in the balk-lands, 1998 recession

I get it, you were a kid in the 90s. Apart from better shiny shit and gadgets, the 80s/90s/00s were the same world wise.

>no smartphones
>no social media
It was a better time. You weren't expected to be connected 24/7. People spent more time interacting with each other and enjoying the moment. People were more present. Smartphones only intensify the NPC.

Absolutely

I think how connected the world is has made things much more....oppressive? We heard about Oklahoma city and Clinton's shenanigans in Africa and elsewhere but it didn't really effect us, the misinformation overload we receive on a daily basis now has really damaged out society.

In the 2000's Neocons dominated politics.
They ruined the country so bad that Democrats had massive victories in 2006 and 2008

You forgot the LA Riots and Waco.

90s had a lot of shit lurking in the background, hence the extreme cynicism. However you could still ignore it by holding up in suburbia.

Fight Club was made in 1998 after all.

Same here. I'm 28. The world change with a quickness.

This is true. We naively thought the Dems had a different agenda than the Neocons.

>Gulf war

See: "slapping around shitty dictator", net cost to us: zero

>War in the balk-lands
>balk-lands

See: "slapping around shitty dictator", net cost to us: zero

>OKC bombing

That was some shit, for sure. But we didn't get a PATRIOT Act out of that.

>98 recession

The proverbial fart in the thunderstorm compared to 1987, 2001, and 2008

>You weren't expected to be connected 24/7

This. I was so amazed when I got my first always-on internet connection. Little did I realize how good it was to be offline 90% of the time.

2006 is the last acceptable year that the 90s culture lingered. In 2005 everyone looked forward for a bright future. 2008 the future is doom

The internet was new to the mainstream in the 2000s, as a teenager it felt amazing having so much information at your fingertips. Remember YouTube wasn't around until 2005 or so.

Today it seems like everyone is glued to their smartphones and thus younger generations are losing the ability to hold conversations and be interesting. I'm guessing smartphones are going to evolve into our literal brains at some point this century the way technology is progressing.

Sure, all of those thoughts crossed my mind while I was typing that up. There is some coloration to my age, but at the same time I still can't really think of a better time to grow up in than the 1980's. I know people who would say the 1970's or 1960's were better decades than the 1980's. I guess the further you go back in time, the less constrictive things became.

I'm not saying that the 1980's were an amazing decades, it was full of shitty problems too,. So were the 1990's and 2000's. But still, things felt less totalitarian back then. There was no housing market crash or millions of homeless people littering the streets. People could actually live the life they wanted without getting fucked up the ass by current ((("politics"))). We didn't have to put up with this socialist shit back then.

It was a lot fun at first. Downloading music from Napster, burning CD's, chasing pussy on AIM. It was amazing at the time.

In the 80's commies would have been hung in the streets.

>In 2005 everyone looked forward for a bright future.
I dispute this. Cynicism, antiheroes, angst all were well entrenched by 2005. I don't get how anyone can say 90s pop culture was optimistic, it literally was all about gritty, edgy and "Xtreme".

You could say retard, gay, faggot, and trannie freely

How is the world more dangerous for your kids to do the same things you did? The world is different just seems like an excuse.

World of warcraft came out and ruined my life

Looking back on it now it really laid the groundwork for the killing off of Gen X. Ted Turner had his "Degeneration X" thing going and was literally rubbing our noses in it in retrospect. Woke levels now are ridiculously higher than back then. The JQ and Illuminati talk was fringe underground shit.

I cringe at the amount of pedos I must have got groomed by on that and msn messenger

America was like 80 to 75% white in the 80s and 90s. That's why. It was a more higher trust society with more social capital.

>In the 80's commies would have been hung in the streets.

There were less chemicals in food and no onions-boy epidemic. Back then, being a onions-fag meant you were targeted for a beating by everyone.

In case you haven't noticed, we have a really bad child trafficking problem, heroin everywhere, and violent crime is at an all time high. I used to roam the city at age 8 with no worries and nothing bad ever happened to me or my friends. Try that now.

This is why 90s nostalgia is dangerous. The 90s was like a nice looking house that seemed nice, but was infested with termites eating away at the foundation.

the 90s have been the most fun i ever had no sjw crap, no political crap, just games, drugs and fucking

It was peak Reagan era. Stallone and Schwarzenegger dominated Hollywood. Looking back a lot of the popular music and movies of the 80's is absolute trash but it was all good at the time.

>violent crime is at an all time high
When did this happen? Crime plummeted in the 90s after all the 3 strike laws got put in place? I never heard any reporting suggesting it spiked to 80s or 70s levels.

twas great. i grew up watching alpha males saving the world, not some wannabe emo depressed faggots crying.

Attached: 1537196062153.jpg (719x480, 150K)

...makes you wonder who was planting the old smelly porno mags all over neighborhoods across the globe.
It literally happened. We built a clubhouse around a Penthouse mag we found.

We hadn't felt the effects yet. Looking back, do you remember how they used to flood TV with nostalgiac 60's hippy bullshit? Its like they groomed us to be degenerates from birth.

Are you like this all the time? I get it man, you think it was all because I was a kid then. Move along.

>Woke levels now are ridiculously higher than back then.

To be honest, this is one thing that is better now than it was back then. People had it so good in the 1980's and early 1990p's that there were too many people asleep at the steering wheel. Things were awesome because there was little concern on a general consensus. Don't get me wrong, there was still high level fear mongering in the 1980's with the so-called cold war and the fear of nuclear threat between Russia and the US. But that is all it ever was, fear mongering. No so different from now with Putin and Donald Trump. As a matter of fact, this decade is mirroring that. It's the same old tricks from the 1980's being perpetuated by the same tired old players.

But people didn't give a fuck about nuclear war on a whole. At least not in the west. But the asleep people from that time period helped lead the world into what we have now.

I remember as a tween a guy driving around throwing porn mags out the window of his car.

nice datamining CIA nigger

Of course, they brought back bell bottom Jeans, Woodstock, and all that shit. It was (((them))) taking a victory lap. But it was somewhat logical since the 80s was all about 50s retro. I was never a fan of the 60s retro, I thought it was gay.

>I can't imagine life without a smartphone though. That must have sucked.

Jesus fucking Christ

Muh Dick!

The music was good, but I always knew based on my full of shit hippy boomer parents that the "Revolution" was a meme. The girls looked good with hip hugger bellbottoms and chunky platform shoes.

But crime was a lot higher back then. So a ghetto apartment complex now would be the same safeness as the 90s.

The problem is they've fucked up by ruining almost every escapist outlet normies could take refuge in. There is pretty much no facet of society left that hasn't become politicized.
This is true, I do like some good prog rock.

Yeah but it was a very urban centric problem, so it was a mixed bag. NYC and DC are absolutely much safer now than they were in the 80s.

No SJWs. No LGBTXYZ. None of that degenerate shit.
Normies didn't use the internet as much. There was also a wide variety of websites and tiny internet communities before all the big sillicon valley sites took off. The internet was way better .
The video games were better and not as dumbed down for retards.

>windows xp and vista was trash in hindsight though.
XP was a great OS, very stable, few issues and was for a long time (possibly still is) the most widely used OS in the world.

Attached: 601.gif (500x500, 2.98M)

I wonder why Detroit and East Saint Louis still have high crime rates despite more regulation. Their crime rates are 80s or 90s tier.

In 2000 you could still smoke in pubs so anti-tobacco groups started a fear campaign around some garbage science called "second hand smoke" then politicians jumped on board because they saw it as a great way to shit all over the working class.

True. But blissful ignorance was nice in its own right. We are hip to the bullshit now, but there's still nothing we can do about it. Things are more oppressive than ever, it gets harder and harder to get by, and knowing that we are just plebs with no say isn't comforting.

>life without a smartphone would have sucked
Lolno. I finally was forced to get my first smart phone this passed November and I still don't want it. Useless junk. Life before smartphones was amazing and we had laptops that did the same thing, so you would have been fine. I would just look up how to get somewhere new on maps and drive there. Fuck smartphones. Tried the GPS once and it took me some weird way, and my partner uses it like an idiot for what ever reason. Idiot's, the lot of you.

Its weird how that worked out. States rake in the tax dollars from smokers but they are ostracized everywhere.

Lol, OP got his shot kicked in. FPBP. Now he's gone from the thread. Faggot.

Attached: sorry.png (854x480, 478K)

Born in 1987. It was a way more blue pilled time and maybe better for it. Today for example I can go online and read about the latest gang rape in Sweden. Before internet access became mainstream you were ignorant about such things.

And of course there was no sjws back then. No blue haired lesbians demanding that Age of Empires have black Greeks or that Half Life is problematic for not making Gordon Freeman a faggot.

Simpler and better times.

>can't imagine life without a smartphone
People wore watches (or referred to wall clocks), carried notepads (or remembered things), and used phone booths. It was nice because there weren't all these people walking around yelling at themselves.

Life without a phone and the social sites (facebook, twitter etc) was bliss. I miss unconnected real life and the coziness that was the old internet.

And people's cars had a pile of maps to avoid getting lost.

It makes me very happy to know that you're going to build Soviet Union 2.0 SJW Edition. You deserve to experience that.

Probably because they have no tax base left and city services are a complete joke. Baltimore's like that in that crime stats are declining, but mostly because they're running out of people to kill/rob at this point.

You're gonna have to elaborate on that, user.

Life before cellphones was great. I wasn't expected to be available at all times.

Please nuke us instead, for old times sake. Actually, just California and NYC. That'll do it.

I vividly remember coming to Jow Forums in the high school days and chicks with dicks were what they were, were fringe and only seen as a fetish for those of us who got sullied. Manly lesbians were just butch dykes but loved their vaginas.

If you joined the military you could go to the desert and kill shitskins, the right were a bunch of no fun allowed squares, and the left advocated for free speech.

That's pretty much the entirety of the story. Guy was driving some old beater throwing literally dozens of porn mags out the window. One of my buddies picked one up and the pages were stuck together, so we left them.
