My position is on self defense, not gun control. I believe a person has a right to defend themselves with whatever they can to counter whatever the threat is.

The US has nukes to counter other countries nukes. Other people have guns and knives and are a threat to me, I have them as well. I can't control the actions of others and their actions should not take away my ability to defend myself. Should my hands be removed? Hands are used in 99% of all murder.

With gun control, we necessarily reach the same fundamental issue as with democracy. No doubt, access to firearms is the best way of preventing tyranny. However, are the masses able to properly diagnose, and rebel against said tyranny? The nature of man is that of a petulant child, he will not rebel so long as he is getting gibs and has open access to sex. This same man may then in turn rebel against the most earnest government who implements austerity to save the nation. Ultimately, the monopoly of force should remain with the monarch to protect the people, for their own good.

In my country I dont want guns to be liberalized. The situation is controlled, the country is safe AF and if any crook ever uses one he becomes a national priority for the police. They are pretty much always caught and all is fine.

I agree with all of this aside from the age thing. I owned guns in my early teens, and obviously they were in the care of my father. At 18, I was well on my way. All firearms should be allowed. Period. Fully automatic etc. My state uses fully automatic, and you can say "muh training", but I am a shooter. I am out nearly every weekend. I a number of NRA training courses under my belt. Someone could learn the same shit I paid for from someone else, or they could even teach themselves. Being proficient comes with practice. Anyone can practice and become excellent.
