I can think of three ways Cody stays out of prison.
1. The underage thot OD's or otherwise doesn't testify.
2. A least one based juror gets in and deadlocks the jury. Not likely and they'll keep trying him until they convict.
3. Governor Abbott realizes that this was a setup and pardons/commutes him.
