I have read the accounts. An old man wanted to walk out with his weapon because he is old and wanted to protect himself in a state where it is perfectly legal to do so. His neighbor perceived the threat and, rather than back off, decided to continue to verbally abuse the man and threatened to take his life for nothing more than walking out with his gun. The man had multiple opportunities to walk away from the situation but decided to to keep threatening the old man.
