Stop for a moment and

Let's appreciate what it is, in my humble opinion, one of the most if not the most important event in human history: The conquest of Tenochtitlán by the Spaniards.

This event has a lot of metaphysical connotations to it, starting by the Aztec exodus

The Aztecs (Mexicas) were originally a north-American tribe closely related to the Hopi, the chronicles and exodus estate that a princess and a prince from different tribes were to marry in order to seal an alliance between the tribes, the day that the princess was sent to the prince she was sacrificed and eaten instead of married by the prince's tribe.
The princess tribe and other surrounding tribes allied and started persecuting the proto-mexicas until they got driven away from the land and forced to march south.
For thousands of years they marched south searching for """The promised homeland""", the legend told that they were to keep marching until they found "An eagle eating a snake on top of a cactus in the middle of a lake", they had many cities from the current day American South East to Chihuahua, San Luis, Teotihuacán and finally Mexico's city, but they never stayed in one place until they found it, the eagle eating a snake.
A city was built on top of Texcoco and the Aztec Empire was born, in 200 years alone they were able to subjugate and absolutely dominate Mexico's valley and the shores all the way down to center America defeating the Tlaxcaltecas and the Mayans and other tribes.

This motivation that they were "The chosen people" drove them to supremacist ideals that allowed them to conquer their known world.

The destruction of the pagan Aztecs by the Christian Spanish definitely has a strong spiritual dimension.

Found it interesting that tribes enslaved by the aztecs fought with the spanish also

How far were the Aztecs from having an industrial revolution?

Attached: tenochtitlan.jpg (1756x952, 281K)

They seemed kinda like medeval europe type civilization.

how far is "entire armies defeated by the sight of a horse?" from industrial revolution?
how far is "no real written language?"
how far is "human sacrifice is needed to keep the sun rising ever day?"

the sun cults of mesoamerica produced great civilizations if all but "savage" ones. The spanish cowered in the face of a religion that is not dishonest about violence or it's importance so they did the virtuous thing and massacred them. But still fuck indios Castizo master race.

The Spanish won partly (arguably mainly) because of the revolution against the Aztecs. Guns and horses helped but logistics and chaos from the bottom half (2/3s?) of society turning on Montezuma made it easy for Spanish influence to spread.

Didn’t really work out so well for anyone involved, though.

I will continue from the Spanish mindset:

I am sure most of you know that the Christian kingdoms of Iberia were stuck in a 800 years conflict fighting for their survival, for the rest of Christendom it was almost impossible to give aid to the Asturians due to geographic and economic limitations.

By the grace of her majesty Isabel I of Castilla, Granada, the last Islamic bastion in Europe fell at the hands of Christianity and the millennia conflict ended, the moors were kicked out of Europe and the kingdoms of Navarre, Castilla, Aragon and Portugal finally had the time to sit and think, what the fuck should they fight now? 800 years of war forged their collective psychology, the wanted to campaign in the name of their god.
So it happened, Constantinople fell to the Turks and the spice trade was sinking, Portugal took the lead and started exploring the world by going around Africa all the way to India and the Castillians inspired by Columbus made the world round.

We fast-track in time to 1519, Carlos I of Spain and V of the Sacro Imperio Romano rules the world and in Cuba there is a young Captain, Hernán Cortés who is hungry for glory and power, he illegally sails to the continent risking martial trial, he sets foot on the coast in the Gulf of Mexico and to "legalize" the expedition he makes a notarized letter that stated that Hernán Cortés claimed the land in the name of his Majesty Carlos V and the port was to be named "La rica villa de la verdadera cruz (Veracruz)"
He entered the continent unknowingly trespassing Aztec lands with 3000 Tercios...

Bump for interesting thread

Dude did you not have all this shit typed up already before dumping? Come on man!

Anyway, good thread so far.

Christianity is not anti-violence. It recognizes tge need for violence in a sinful world. That's why the Bible is filled with violence sanctioned by God Himself.

If Christianity were anti-violence, why would the Christian Spainiards decide to violently conquer the Aztecs?

And smallpox that little bastard

No metalurgy, no wheels. They got pottery, animal husbandry and agricultural. Thats like first tier in any civ game.

How could an Empire of warriors and monstrous cannibals so advanced for their time fell to a Spanish expedition?

The concentration of power in one person, Moctezuma Xocoyotzin, the absolute tlatoani and emperor of the Mexicas.

Moctezuma was not a soft person, he was a bloodthirsty tyrant and ruler of a warrior folk, he was not easily deceived, not easily persuaded and surely not easily dominated, how could he let his Empire be destroyed by a bunch of shinny armored Spaniards?

When Moctezuma heard the rumors of weird people in the lands he immediately started spying on them, but when they were described to him he was terrified:

About 10 years earlier the Aztecs, especially the tlatoani experienced 8 omen:

-A column of fire emerging from the ground to the sky appeared on the city during night time

-The Mayor Huitzilopotchli temple got caught on fire apparently by no one

-A lighting bolt struck Xiuhtecutli's temple but it didn't made any sound

-A rain of stars that went from west to east

-Texcoco's lake mini tsunami that sunk half of the city

-Every night for months on the imperial capital a woman cried "My children, we must get far away from here", "My children where should I take you?"

-In the lake a weird bird was captured and brought to Moctezuma, the bird had a mirror instead of an eye and in the mirror the emperor saw "Silver men on top of giant dogs that came from moving mountains in the sea", when the emperor called the priests the bird vanished

-The last one talks about reports of two headed man-like creatures that appeared and disappeared.

It is sudden inspiration, sorry senpai

bump

about 1300 years

or 7000 years

who cares about spics

no, they were pretty advanced already. The difference between them and old worlders was that they had a late start

Considering this, when Moctezuma heard of the Spanish he was morally crushed and genuinely terrified.

Cortes made his way to the inner continent, led by Moctezuma's emissaries, in the way they got attacked by the Tlaxcaltecas who surrendered when the Spanish made a warning shot with a canon, they entered Tlaxcala and Cortés saw the poverty and the desperation of the Tlaxcaltecas, Tlaxcala was basically a human farm for the Aztecs to go to war with and capture people for sacrifices in the so called "Florida wars".

Along the way a small tribe gifted the Spanish 10 female slaves, Cortes had them baptized and married to his captains, but he kept one for himself, this girl went by the name of "Marina" or "Malinche", she was an avid linguistic and didn't took her long to learn Spanish, she was the political coach, lover and translator for Cortés.

Cortés eventually arrived to Tenochtitlán's gate, where he was greeted by Moctezuma himself who asked him to leave (Were it not for the omens he would have had the Spaniards sacrificed), he gifted him gold and precious stones and invited him to a banquet, of course the Spanish captains were not so pleased with human flesh and crickets, but at least they got to be the first Euros to taste the chocolate.

Cortés refused to leave as he saw the gold and the opportunity for glory in these new lands

Dumbass spic. No one cares about your sticks and rocks.

Please dont be mean to me.
im not saying they wuz kangz n shit im saying they were pretty advanced and given a thousand years they would have certainly had significant technological advancement

Pretty good summary of the history on fire podcast series about this so far

Conquistadors were a product of the enlightenment and its identity politics. I'm not surprised they did what they did.

>how far is "no real written language?"
They had urbanization, central religion, writing, and astronomy.

I think they were probably on the level of early bronze age, or maybe late stone age

This is why it’s imperative you make fun of any and all spics who claim Aztec blood. They aren’t Aztecs. They are the slaves the Spanish conscripted to defeat the actual Aztecs, of whom they totally wiped out.

Moctezuma didn't said anything to Cortés, he was broken, he let them stay in the Mayor Temple for months brought plague and even started to have some influence in the imperial politics.

This is when Cuitlahuac, Moctezuma's cousin, starts to talk, he sees that the Spaniards poop, eat, piss, get sick, sleep, etc., "they are not gods wtf", but Moctezuma is reluctant to do anything and just expects them to leave, Cuitlahuac will not have any of this shit.

At the most opportune of times Pánfilo de Narvaez has just arrived to Veracruz with an expedition force to capture Cortés and bring him to the sacred imperial justice.
The Captian leaves to veracruz with half of his forces and leaves Pedro de Alvarado in charge with the instruction of "not doing anything" and he does exactly the opposite, a very important ceremony was to be held in the mayor temple, the celebration of Toxcatl which involved several child sacrifices and orgies. Pedro irrupted and killed the Aztec religious hierarchy, this is when shit got real:

Cuitlahuac took this opportunity and besieged the mayor temple, Pedro took Moctezuma and his family as a hostage.

Cortes returned victorious and with new forces that he took from Pánfilo, he returned only to be recieved with arrows, spears, rocks and blood, he managed to get his troops into the temple...

When he got there the first thing he did was to arrest Pedro and talk to Moctezuma, he asked the disgraced emperor to calm his people, so he proceeded to the balcony and spoke

A rock hit him and killed him, Cortés had nothing to bargain with, Montezuma's sons didn't had any value anymore, the only thing Cuitlahuac wants is to kill him.

The siege lasted for months, water and food started running short, plague was a real danger and everyone was in panic.
The plan is to leave every heavy armor, gold and weapons behind, sneak trough the night and exit the city, so it was put into motion.

Of course some soldiers did not heard the captain's orders and brought a lot of gold with themselves, eventually something fell to the ground, making a lot of noise and alerting mexica forces.

They fought trough the Aztec lines and the Tenochtitlan streets and eventually managed to get out of the city with less than half of their forces.

This is when Cortes hears screaming and cries from the city, it's his men, they did not killed them, they captured them and were being sacrificed and he could hear the screams from outside the city.

He sat under a three and started crying...

they didn't even have bronze or iron.

Figure about 5000 years from the invention of the wheel to the industrial revolution in Europe. The Aztecs never invented the wheel so they were about forever away from an industrial revolution.

>so advanced for their time
because they weren't.

they did have the wheel...

Your post is slightly unclear on some parts, so I feel the need to clarify for any posters that may be especially interested.

They were besieged by the entirety of the city while within the walls of the palace.
Tenochtitlán was built in the middle of a lake, so they had to build a portable bridge to flee. Most of Cortes' troops died while crossing the bridge, drowning after being stricken down by Indian canoes.
The captured troops were both sacrificed and cannibalized, as Aztec warriors believed that eating their hearts would grant them martial prowess.

Good thread OP, ignore the anti spic shitposters

Shut up spic

Most Amerindians are absolute savages by their very nature. In the northern tribes, the common practice for POWs was torture well beyond any of the recent American serial killers or even the gorecore flicks like Hostel or Saw. They'd burn off a woman's nose. They'd bury a man up to his neck and cut off his eyelids. They'd feed a man to red ants and pour acid on the wounds. And thanks to kikes, Americans now think these people were peaceful and noble.

No people that live off the land and regularly commit human sacrifice is noble or peaceful. Our own people were somewhat like that before they were given the covenant, and after that they went on to conquer the planet and raise the moral and living standard for everyone. Romans did not have the valuation of human life in and of itself as later Christian Europeans did. Don't look at their engineering and glory as a testament to anything but their inherent intellect. There's a reason CIA niggers are always hanging around pagan circles online, and are heavily involved in the Catholic Church. The absolute last fucking thing the world order wants is us to find Christ again.
