I'm a Norwegian engineer and I have been living in the United States for 12 years and I have to ask what the fuck is wrong with Americans?
I moved to America shortly after graduating from NTNU. It seemed very appealing because of the much lower taxes and lower cost of living. I worked for a company in Missouri that sponsored my H1B and when I received my green card I got a job at a company in Reno, NV, and moved there. I have traveled around a few places in America and what I see always disappoints me. Americans of all races are filthy and dirty and uneducated. In my time living in America I have suffered from food poisoning on four occasions, my car has been broken into twice, and no matter what city I go to it has a homless, junkie, or gang problem. How did America get this bad?

I agree, OP. I'm disgusted by the hygiene, lifestyles and litter habits of my fellow Americans... I want to clean everything, but even my parents house is trashed because they neglect its potential to be organized and aesthetically pleasing. That's really the big dilemma. So, the poor in the United States typically live in the cities as that is where they can easily receive gibs. Because these poor are also an essential voting block, they pretty much are pandered to. Likewise, many of these urban poor are generationally poor from WW2.
Back in the 70's, you saw this mass migration out of city centers to the suburbs, and all these cities suddenly going panic mode because the poor masses of voters don't actually pay any significant taxes.
Right now is a bit of a turning point because white collar work depends on city centers, and people are being forced back into the city centers. So, big businesses are wondering how to exactly remove urban poor without upsetting the political status quo.
