I seriously don't understand the controversy of saying that American jurisprudence borrowed heavily from the English common law system. The founding fathers themselves said as much. Yeah, George Mason hit a fucking home run with the bill of rights separating American citizens from British subjects, there were of course other influences in our constitution, but the American legal system is a descendant of common law.
