I worked at two games companies. One had a runaway hit back in the 2000s and spent the next 10 years chasing that dragon, slowly dying off until the day the men in suits escorted us all out and stopped us from touching our computers as we packed up our desks. The next one was a huge success, but then got bought and sold a few times til the money was all being sucked out of the company and into parent company pockets.

It's a fucking blast being a rich young company that can never seem to do any wrong. People running the show don't realize that you can't just sit back and rake in the money forever though. Game company responsible for some universally well-liked old school games like Escape from Monkey Island and Sam & Max finds new found success with narrative based games. The new found success gets to them and they start snatching up expensive IPs like crazy, hiring on WAY too much staff, and rushing out mediocre products. This all catches up to them and they announce their closure halfway through working on the final season of one of their flagship products much to the anger of the people who bought it and most likely will be left with an unfinished product.
