In 8th grade I had to read a biography of a famous person and do an oral presentation about them. I choose Hitler sort of randomly - I saw a book on him in the library, and thought it would be funny, plus I didn't actually know that much about how he came to power. The day of the presentation, I made a little swastika armband, wore a tan shirt (since I didn't have any khakis) and my mom drew a little upper lip mustache on with her makeup. My friends thought it would be funny, so as I walked to the front of the class they stood up, saluted and said "Heil Hitler." Funny enough, nobody thought I was a Nazi, it's almost like we used to be able to separate interest from sympathy.
