Athiests still worship, they just pick false idols. It is quite simple to get them caught. Just find something that their god and devil agree on, and it will cause them issues. Most conspiracy theorists in general I'd think. I've seen conspiracy theorists time and time again refuse to believe anything that is not implicitly pro whatever they believe. Even if it's what they believe just worded differently.

It's not lazy or even logically inconsistent. First question is to formulate an argument; second question is to criticize your own argument. Only an NPC wouldn't be able to criticize their own argument.

My own experiences have been the opposite.
One of my co-workers made a flawed argument and I pointed it out while simultaneously asking if he constructed a flawed argument on purpose to test if I was stupid.
He just looked at me with that double blink, eyebrows raised sort of "damn" expression of surprise.
