If something costs $1, and that's the cheapest thing on the rack, then the government ensures everyone will have $1000 a month, then it follows, every single thing on the rack that is priced $1 is suddenly $1001. You don't even have to try very hard to see this problem on the UBE horizon.

Why wouldn't the price of every single thing raise to exactly match the UBE?

The capitalist explanation is because then everyone on UBI would just die and they would no longer be able to extract that $1000 a month. That the market would simply adjust such that $1000 a month is livable to ensure they can get all those $1000s a month from every person.

This of course requires blind faith in the market.

I've given honest consideration on how UBI could work in America. There would have to be 5 essentials in order for it not to destroy our nation.

It's just one of a few possible solutions to the catch 22 of post-automation society.
When most of the work force is automated, we're still left with all these people who were supposed to buy the goods that are made by said machines. With machines, much of the population becomes redundant. Without the population, the machines lose their purpose for existence.

What happens if all of the wealth is amassed by the owners of these machines and 90% of the population is basically told to rebuild its own society from scratch? They take it by force.

The entire argument for it is (why it is rebranded to try and get away from association to other forms of socialism) is a recognition that society as we know it is getting wrecked anyway.

UBI is actually the center-right alternative proposal for how to handle structural unemployment, in contrast to the marxist socialist retards. It's all right there in the name, and honest, in contrast to the lefts constant doublespeak.

Universal - not means tested. Ideally replacing most or all current means-tested redistribution/welfare schemes.

Basic - providing a minimal requirement for continued existence.

The point is to acknowledge that simple labor doesn't exist any more, and continuing to manufacture simple labor jobs (eg. the 'service economy') is killing us.

The best way to probably go about this is to tax the robots the same way you would tax human workers, although you would have to tax them double or triple the rate of a human, this probably wouldn't matter too much since the robot or machine could probably do things 5x more efficiently than a human.

If you do not pay these people off they tear the country apart. What will likely happen is mass unemployment followed by electing leaders that push for UBI. Probably, but thankfully countries like yours will invite in every unskilled migrant from the third world.
