Actual conservative here. I've supported Donald Trump from the time he announced his candidacy in 2015, and I was truly impressed with his decision to nominate Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. With that said, I am disturbed by the allegations of sexual misconduct made by two highly credible women -- Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and Yale graduate Debbie Ramirez. I have a daughter, and I believe it is our duty -- no, our universal moral obligation -- to defend the dignity of all women, regardless of place, time, and remoteness. Given my principles and devotion to the U.S. Constitution, I cannot in good conscience continue to support Kavanaugh's nomination and subsequent confirmation to the Supreme Court until we have a chance to hear both Ford's and Ramirez's credible testimonials before the Senate Judiciary Committee. I also believe that the FBI must open an investigation into Kavanaugh's alleged sexual misdeed. We must explore these serious allegations as thoroughly and transparently as possible. In my honest opinion, Senators Harris, Hirono and Feinstein are speaking quite reasonably on these incidents.
Thus, I support delaying Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation hearing until an FBI investigation into these disturbing allegation has been conducted and his name is cleared. The Senate, as well as the FBI, must do its job -- and that's coming from a principled conservative.
