I look at it from the standpoint where we, as a citizen, have the most power and influence, and that is to help dictate local policy. My point is that, at all times, from when I first started (I knocked on many many thousands of doors) to now, I found that ENGAGEMENT was very difficult to generate. That people tended to live more in the space of information, than in the world of action. I'm proposing to you that a little blackpill might be something that's needed to light a fire under people's ass. I'm also offering you some hope that, if things get worse, and you find yourself having a hard time caring anymore, consider the possibility that it MUST get worse before it gets better.

Regardless, try not to spin it in a partisan way - just play off the raw assholery of the politicos and the bureaucrats. Think populism; as far as conservative or libertarian values, don't deny them, but don't unnecessarily push them. Try to storm a council meeting; you're not an ANTIFA shithead, so do it professionally (I dressed for war, suit and tie, but it isn't a requirement per se). Press your issue respectfully, but persistently :) If that fails, try to get a ballot measure on it; I don't know the laws in CA but there should be some way to do it. Possibly that's already the situation, e.g. with a bullshit bond issue. Regardless, ride it to its conclusion; voter id, get out the vote. Mobilize base, undermine opposition, swing the middle. You may lose, but the experience will be invaluable, and the cachet you gain in your community will serve you well moving forward. Just treat it all as a business - and the whole world is your customer.

I think if we fail to do that, we will wake up to find ourselves having morphed into the very thing we despise. It's one thing to use Rules for Radicals against the enemy (Alinsky is mostly just good tactical advice anyway, used by him to horrible ends, but which everyone should be familiar with). But it's another to sell out the values we fight for (rule of law, for instance) in the quest to preserve those same values. I think that is the great challenge. And it might very well be too late, and yes the bad guys incessantly pervert our principles and use them to undermine us, and yes it's a razor's edge. But this is the fight we're faced with.
