Other dogs, especially stray dogs, should be put down at the first suspicion of them causing trouble. And keeping a dog as a companion pet, and not a working animal, is strictly forbidden.

Well this is just factually wrong even by the hadiths. The reason muhammad did not like dogs was because by the narrations. The archangel who identified himself as gabriel who revealed the qu´ran and sunnah to muhammad. was to meet muhammad in his dwelling. Then for the first time gabriel who was invisible for others than muhammad, did not appear. Muhammad was very disturbed by this. Then later gabriel comes to him and muhammad asks. Why did you not appear gabriel? And gabriel responds to him that he does not enter a dwelling that has pictures and dogs. Because it is unclean. It turns out there was a little dog in muhammads dwelling just chilling doing no harm that muhammad was not aware of. Hence 'gabriels' first noshow. So after that muhammad decrees that dogs are haram and to kill them. So they start killing them. Then later muhammad changes his mind or recieves a revelation or whatever, clearly realizing that dogs are not bad. And says no not all dogs, just specific types of dogs are bad. Specifically black dogs. But also some others. Which is why you see muslims some muslims are just totally afraid of dogs, and will literally go way outside if you are walking with your dog.
And no i am not kidding you can go look these things up. It is not hard to find if you just look after these verses.

Dogs are permitted in Islam for redpilled purposes - hunting, guarding property and livestock, etc. They are disliked fo being unclean, because as a species they have little regard for clealiness.
