Did late-night talk shows make fun of Obama as much as they currently make fun of Trump? What about when W. Bush was President?
Did late-night talk shows make fun of Obama as much as they currently make fun of Trump? What about when W...
No
Not as much, but they did
I didn't pay attention to them back them but
I did a search with Trump and Obama on both SNL and late night shows
Obama on the late night shows and snl was more objective, they didn't really make fun of him or criticize him. They mostly praised him. He wasn't a caricature like he is on SNL
*Trump is on SNL
W got it nonstop. Comedians and comedy writers are 95% liberal so it's always more brutal for a Republican president
Trump makes it pretty easy to be fair. Too bad they've made so made molehills into mountains I don't even pay attention anymore.
How many episodes of South Park was Obama in?
They had a black doing Obama but he wasn’t very good and seemed to do it grudgingly. One the late night hosts said that there just wasn’t anything funny about Obama’s so they didn’t do jokes.
Will Ferrell did a good Bush. They didn't mock Obama because he was their God. He would come on the shows periodically and just be so hilariously well spoken.
Alec Baldwin's Trump impersonation is not even good and beyond played the fuck out. To think I used to like the prick.
At this point, they're making fun of themselves.
They only ever did half-hearted jest and almost always covered it with praise afterwords.
Let's not forget the amount of praise they had given him during that time. Honestly I don't think the media has ever been as kind to any other president, and in this country that says a lot. This overwhelming bias is what led to the success of small time podcast and internet videos as well.
I remember Bush being clowned on allot in late night talk and comedy sketch shows.
Always thought Jeb Bush looked like Ferrell playing W
worst thing is they replaced Hammond doing Trump, which was actually good
No. You were ran out on a rail if you dared.
Pic related
they joked around, look alikes etc but they did not ridicule or attack him
He was boring and didn't give them as much to work with. Go back and watch some of the kino Clinton stuff that's out there.
Bill Clinton that is. They make sport of him and Carter back in the day.
Chevy Chase actually regretted giving Gerald Ford such a hard time on SNL
>This guy
SNL was the first show to do skits goofing on a president. But NBC really started using weaponized comedy to sway public opinion on Bush Sr. Other networks started doing it as Bill Clinton made the rounds on the late nite circuit playing the young hip candidate costing Bush the election.
Now the Media has transformed into nothing but lightly disguised propaganda.
