The study was exaggerated to say that nearly no one has internal monologue, when in reality it's more like 50% of people internal monologue some of the time, roughly 20% internal monologue all of the time and roughly 20% never experience any internal monologue. So for most normies they internal monologue some of the time but not constantly, and some operate on pure impulse, which probably correlates with IQ.

Keep the following in mind. NPCs only seek to be “normal” they adapt to whatever the norm is. Be it racial pride or guilt, or anything in between. Now that this has come out into the open it will become normalized, that’s already shown with the popularity of this meme.

Five of the 30 participants had no inner speaking at all in their ten samples. Mihelic (2010) used DES with a convenience sample of 21 subjects and found that six had zero frequency of inner speaking. Most participants had inner speech frequencies somewhere between zero and 100%. The overall frequency, averaged across all participants in the Heavey and Hurlburt (2008) and Mihelic (2010) studies was 23 percent, but that should not be taken to imply that most subjects experience inner speaking 23 percent of the time. The median inner speech frequency of the participants in the Heavey and Hurlburt (2008) and Mihelic (2010) studies was 20 percent.

Im a clinical psychologist and will lay this npc topic to rest, here and now. You wonder and even conclude about people who seemingly have no “inner dialogue”. Thing is, the more people socialize, the more they tend to exteriorize their ideas, wants, and needs. Thus, the less need for an inner dialogue. The more antisocial you are, the less contact with people you have, the more you sink into your inner world and can lapse into multiple personality disorder or even schizophrenia. Havent you wondered why this npc “theory” is so popular amongst conspiracy theorists, incels, neets, hikikomoris, and other assorted antisocial elements? Plus, advocating the existence of “npc people” serves to dehumanize “undesirables” and boost the fragile, broken self-esteem of the believer. In other words, it’s a mentally ill theory for mentally ill people.
