I read his book on the future of technology when it came out and it was pretty awesome.

I basically knew about what AI was becoming before it had advanced.

Out of all the pop scientists this guy is probably the best. This is one of the guys you can listen to without wanting to blow your brains out because he doesn't spew pseudo-science or repeat the same ''smart'' talking point over and over, or going on rants about how borders are bullshit.
The guy seems like a legit scientist interested in truth, but he works in the field of theoretical physics which is a very shit field to try and give credibility to yourself. He works in such a meme field that the answer to most questions is ''we don't know shit, but here are a few guesses I made up.''
