Retractions became standard because recalling newspapers for publishing incorrect info would bankrupt institutions.
Thus, when you get a detail wrong, instead of sending out everyone to pull back the papers that were previously delivered you can just follow up with the next edition.
There are no such limitations with Twitter.
Posting a retraction on twitter is either a sign of retardation, or an indication of how willfully dishonest they're being.
