.50 BMG arn't magic mini nukes. Its just a large bullet. There was a guy on /k that made a single shot, breech loading 50 and it doesn't "become unusable after the first shot."

0.223 inches is roughly the same as 5.56 mm. AR-15s are typically chambered in 5.56 NATO, which is nearly identical with, and mostly compatible with, .223 Remington. (technically, the 5.56 is a bit different shape and higher pressure, so it isn't safe to fire 5.56 in some cheap 223 rifles)

People use "two twenty-three" and "five fifty-six" interchangeably to refer to what AR-15s shoot. It's easy to misunderstand. You just put the silent decimal point in the wrong place.
