NPC however is effective because it replaces the term normie. Previously, if you called a person a normie, they wouldnt care much - calling someone normal is hardly offensive to normal people. However, calling a normie “npc” is offensive - it implies they lack any thought process and are of little value - obviously this is offensive. By calling normies “npcs”, you are now insulting them rather than stating they are ‘normal’, which leads to resentment.
