I was in line buying groceries after a long day of work. The woman in front of me apparently could not speak English and was on government assistance to pay for groceries (WIC). Antarctic airspace isn't closed. There is a Quantas flight from Sydney to Joburg that flights far enough south to go over the icecaps.

The problem is that with ETOPS limitations only 4 engined planes could fly over the continent.

Since 1947 there have been numerous meetings amongst world leaders to discuss population growth. The concensus was that it needed a downturn. None of this has to do with available resources or the ability to control billions. It is about how humans evolve and what people will do when left without a task. We have conducted many experiments and our largest is currently in Iraq. The size of this is not only unprecedented but wasn't a viable option at earlier times. The results of this will determine both how we shed the majority of humanity and who will have to cull the most. Intentional global weather instability, untreatable virus, sterility, natural disaster, or good old fashioned famine.
The study seeks to present it's conclusions 20 years after the study begins. The study is set to begin before 2030. Not a single test of this nature have yielded good results. Each was a catsrophic failure and even the lesser ones using various mammals record the same findings. Iraq is looked on with glib acceptance. What will change the world and our very species isn't aliens, AI, apocalyptic meteors or even God's wrath. It will be a necessary and entirely unpalatable series of actions that will be targetted and controlled methods to drastically lower the Earth's human habitants.
This will never be told to you. The very thought of making this a public issue will result in massive destruction of infrastructure and technologies that would set us back a great deal. It's a sad outcome but it is one that most of us know and you will never understand.
