"universal healthcare" is a meme. there are other paths. the first thing we could do is relieve some costs for hospitals by bringing up the ratio of doctors/patients in the US, which is about half that of britain. consequently. doctors make twice as much in america relative to their british counterparts.

we could do more to prevent consolidation in helath insurer/provider industries. some deregulation may spur competition.

we could increase medicare slowly and use strategies like managed care systems of many states to cut costs and increase efficiency

we could do all of these things and more. but no, let's vote in a socialist take over 1/5th of the american economy overnight, with no testing or experimentation.

the system works like this: the public puts out a bond. banks buy those bonds and flip them at a profit to the federal reserve. the fed will buy and sell bonds in order to increase or decrease the money supply. they increase the money supply when they want to see growth, the decrease the money supply to cool off the economy. banks then take their profits and principals from their flips, and lend it to investors or directly to businesses. investors lend it to businesses and entrepreneurs. that's the scheme:

PUBLIC WEALTH -> FED -> BANKS -> INVESTORS -> CORPORATIONS -> YOUR DUMB ASS

if the central portion of this system FREEZES and STOPS PUMPING, you MUST save it. to do anything else would destroy the system.

the problem that results is that a lot of people were not held accountable. some of them were bankers, who sold products they knew were no good. but who created those products in the first place? who were those people?

those people were politicians like barney frank, who forced fannie mae and freddie mac to increase their quotas of subprime loans. ie, frank et al forced a lending organization in this system to pump a bunch of money into a market where they were guaranteed to not make any money back. why? because votes, and by the way, fuck you for asking. what, do you hate poor people? don't want poor people to get free money? fucking evil.

banks responded by slicing up those bad loans and selling them around. this is the part which could arguably be considered a crime, but it is not the CENTRAL crime. they should have said something, or refused to sell products they knew were not good. but they didn't make the product. the product was made. they just profited off of it and lied about it.

despite all this, if you let a major pump in the economy freeze up, you're delusional. you would totally fuck up the system that has lead to the most prosperous economy in the history of man.
