There is literally nothing wrong with monetary and economical basis of EU. That is, free movement of persons, goods and capital. What makes me, and millions other people, hate it so much are the things that are unrelated to the mission of improving member states economical well being. Attempts to force western european values on eastern european countries, failings in migration policy (or more accurately inability to enforce it's own policies), the democratic deficit, bureucracy etc.
