I always thought about how weird it is that we will give more severe punishments for murders/manslaughters of pregnant women, yet allow abortion to be legal at the same point. I think the line should be drawn at viability. When the sperm and ovum meet you get a zygote, the first cell. It then multiplies to 2 to 4 to 8 to 16 and so on until you start getting specialized cells designated to be muscle, bone, and brains cells. The mass of cells is indeed another individual organism. I can't show any remorse for a literal mass of cells. You can terminate pregnancy at that point via a pill which I think is fine. Our gametes are human yet we show no remorse for the death of sperm.
